Vision
& Mission Statement
Vision
ELI helps TUSD administrators lead. Our vision is to be advocates for a professional, educational climate that promotes and supports a passion for excellence.
ELI will focus on the following domains for the implementation of the vision:
- Political Issues
- Advocacy
- Communications and Public Relations
- Professional/Personal Growth
Political Issues Domain
To significantly impact policy and decision making that affects students, staff, and community, ELI will engage in the following
- Meet and Confer
- ELI-PAC
- Legislative liaison
- Attendance at governing board meetings
- Superintendent’s breakfast
- Communication with governing board members
- Activities of the executive director
Advocacy Domain
To protect, promote, and advance ELI members’ professional status ELI will use:
- Activities of the executive director.
- The ELI board’s role.
- Meet and Confer.
- Communication between ELI and the governing board.
Communication and Public Relations Domain
To communicate internally and externally on behalf of the ELI membership, ELI will:
- Create a website or home page with a "chat box" for questions and answers to facilitate interaction and exposure for ELI.
- Include articles on recent school events and activities by ELI members in the ELI newsletter.
- Send the ELI newsletter to non-members once a year to keep them abreast of ELI activities, as a means of membership recruitment.
- Offer a non-member price for individuals to attend the ELI Unconference.
- Add "Point/Counterpoint" section to the ELI newsletter, and to the website, for members to express different opinions and ideas.
- Establish partnerships with businesses.
- Send the ELI newsletter to the area assistant superintendents and Dr. Paz.
- Submit new appointments to the business section of the newspaper, with a photo.
- Have the ELI secretary also serve as chair of a public relations committee.
- Maintain open lines of communication with other TUSD bargaining groups.
Personal Growth Domain
To promote and encourage the professional and personal development and wellness of the membership, ELI will:
- Develop a five-year growth plan.
- Provide professional development opportunities, e.g., Unconference, study group/book club.
- Request input regarding needs/interests of members.
- Collaborate with TUSD, including meet and confer.
- Provide job alike/support meetings.
- Exchange and share information.
- Provide a mentor and support system for new administrators-starting it as a group discussion so people are introduced to each other.
- Propose adding ELI to the agenda for the Leadership Academy.
